Wham! were a British pop duo, created in 1981 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, until they broke up in 1986. In the United States they were known as Wham! EDITION Wham! UK as there was another group with the same name. In an October 2008 poll by NME, Wham were voted ‘The Greatest Boy Band of All Time’, beating rival bands such as Backstreet Boys and NSYNC for the prestigious title.

George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley met at Bushet Meeds School in Watford, England At first, they were involved in a short-lived ska band called “The Executive.” When the group broke up, the musicians formed the duo called Wham! and they got a contract with the record label Innervision Records.
